Your projects, recordings and edits stay on your iPhone. An account carries your progress, friends and matches — never your music. We don't sell data or show adverts, and you can download or delete everything from Profile → Privacy & data.
The short version
- Your projects live on your iPhone. Songs you bring in, recordings, the notes Blanc Notes writes out, your edits and your videos stay on your phone. Turning a song into notes happens on the phone.
- An account carries your progress, not your music: your sign-in, the name and username you choose, your level, streak and medals, your friends and matches, and what you've bought.
- We don't sell your data, show adverts, or use your music to target anything.
- You can download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, in the app: Profile → Privacy & data.
What we hold, and why

Most of this is needed to provide the service you asked for (the legal basis is our contract with you). Usage events and keeping the service secure rely on our legitimate interests, which we keep small. Marketing notifications only ever go out if you turn them on.
What stays on your phone
Songs you import, recordings, the notes and edits in your projects, lyrics, backgrounds and exported videos. Your phone's backup to iCloud is between you and Apple.
Who helps us run it
- Supabase — our database and sign-in, hosted in London (AWS eu-west-2).
- Fly.io — the small server that checks purchases with Apple, in London.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, purchases, and notifications, under Apple's own privacy policy.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- An email provider — to send your sign-in codes.
We share information only with them, to run the service, or where the law requires it.
Other people can see
Your name, username, character, league, medals and record are visible to other players — on leaderboards, in the arena and on your profile. Pieces you list can be previewed and played by people in your league. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, everything tied to it is deleted straight away, except purchase records, which the law requires us to keep for tax purposes (up to seven years) — and those are kept without anything that says they were yours.
Your rights
You can see a copy of everything we hold (Profile → Privacy & data → Download account data), correct your name, and delete your account from the same place. You can also object to or ask us to limit how we use your information. Write to support@blancnotes.app. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Age
Blanc Notes is for people aged 13 and over.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before it takes effect.
